Hurt worker rescued from gantry

Firefighters helped rescue a maintenance worker who suffered a suspected electric shock while working on a gantry at a cement works.

Essex Fire and Rescue Service brought the man safely down the ground level after the accident at LaFarge Cement in Olicer Road, Grays.

The crews assisted ambulance paramedics after being called to deal with an unrelated fire at the site.

The cement works own staff put out the blaze before firefighters arrived.

Ambulance crews, also on scene, then asked them to help bring the man down to safety from the gantry.

He was then taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment for minor burns.
